December in Manchester

December is the month that seems to make everyone a little happier & joyful. It is also the month that has thousands of different events happening across the city, pretty much every single day there are festive & exciting things happening!

If your looking for something to entertain the little ones, fancy a festive day out, or need somewhere for date night, here are 6 things happening around Greater Manchester this December, that will definitely be worth a visit!

The Christmas markets

Of course most people come to Manchester at this time of year to enjoy the markets. Although many Mancunians dread these stalls and how busy they make the city centre, it’s impossible to deny how beautiful they are & how festive they make you feel!

Christmas at Dunham Massey

I have always loved Dunham Massey, especially in Autumn. But, its also pretty magical at Christmas. This year they have made their Christmas Festival even bigger. With fairy light lit walkways and of course delicious seasonal food.

Ice Village

This year the Cathedral Gardens will host a village of ice sculptures. This attraction is definitely one for the kids to enjoy!

2

The Snowman Walk

Around Media City this year, the Bee in the City bees have been replaced by snowman! Decorated by local artists, it should be a hit with any children and the parents who remember seeing the film for the first time! Each of the 12 larger snowmen will be painted to represent a different line from the song 12 Days of Christmas!

Victoria Baths Christmas Cinema

This has to be one of my favourite buildings in Manchester and at Christmas it gets even better! They are showing screenings of some of the best classic festive films in the main hall of the Baths. The Elf & The Grinch showings are already sold out, but there are tickets left for Miracle on 34th Street & more!

The Wizard of Oz

Instead of booking a pantomime this year, why not try a modern take on this family classic. Showing at the Grange Theatre in Oldham, its set to be a hit!5
