I can’t even begin to explain how happy I am for Autumn to finally be here. It is no surprise for anyone that knows me, that this is my favourite time of year (I may have mentioned this once or twice before!) I love everything about this time of year, but specifically, I love the flavours. Apple, cinnamon, clove, orange.. the list is endless.
I knew I wanted to find a recipe for a spiced cider, that I could make at home on a cosy Autumn Saturday at home. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a single recipe for just a couple of glasses. Most online recipes are for gallons of cider. So, I played around a little & figured out exactly what you need for just 2 glasses. It only takes 5-10 minutes & tastes amazing!
5 cloves – half a vanilla pod – 1 orange slice – 1 apple slice – 1 cinnamon stick – 500ml of cider (2 small mugs)
Add all the ingredients to a pan & let it simmer for at least 5-10 minutes. I personally love cinnamon, so I added a little sprinkle of powdered cinnamon into the pan too.
Once it has simmered & filled your kitchen with all those delicious smells, pop it into glasses! It really is that simple. I put some extra orange peel, a cinnamon stick & a wedge of apple into the glasses & poured the cider on top, for that extra bit of flavour! whilst it is delicious warm, it gets sweeter & spicier as it cools down too.
