The Refuge

For the longest time, I have been wanting to eat at The Refuge. Seeing its stunning interior on Instgram & the amazing reviews of the food it serves, added this spot to my ‘to-eat’ list a while ago.

As I am a self confessed Northern Quarter lover, so I very rarely stray away from this part of the city. However, recently, I have been loving the Oxford Road Corridor more and more.

A little while ago now (time flies!) my boyfriend treated me to Sunday lunch at The Refuge, to celebrate my birthday. He knew I have been wanting to eat here for such a long time & he liked the sound of it too!

Although we were tempted to try the Sunday Roast sharing platter, after seeing the size of it, we decided to both opt for small individual roast dinners. I decided to go for the suckling pig & my boyfriend tried the butter chicken. This was definitely one of the best Sunday roasts I have ever had!

Although I usually drown my lunches in gravy, this dinner has the perfect amount of everything. All of the dish is rich, flavourful & seasoned perfectly. The buttered leeks & kale were stunning & although you can only see a little of it from this picture, the meat & Yorkshire pudding is resting on a mound of Vimto braised red cabbage. Yes. Vimto braised red cabbage. This was so good & something I will definitely be trying out myself!

Along with the stunning food, the dining room at The Refuge, offers some of the most stunning interiors that you will find anywhere in Manchester.

One of my favourite parts, was having cocktails in their outdoor area. Although this area is aimed at those who smoke, as it was a lovely sunny evening, we decided to have our cocktails outside & it was lovely!

I know we will be heading back to The Refuge, to try out the rest of their amazing menu. I mean, if this is how good their Sunday Roast is, then I cant wait to try the rest! If your looking for somewhere to spend an evening drinking amazing cocktails, or need somewhere to celebrate your birthday, then The Refuge is where you need to go!
