The Principal MCR

As a birthday treat my boyfriend recently treated me to a nights stay at The Principal, in Manchester, and a meal at their restaurant The Refuge. Although we only live a short drive from the city centre, Manchester has some amazing places to stay & I love the idea of still enjoying that, even though were local.

The Principal, which used to be know as The Palace hotel, underwent a huge renovation and has become one of the most beautiful hotels that Manchester has on offer.

When you arrive at the hotel, you will  be blown away by the glass domed roof and stunning foyer.

Inset into the marble floors, are brass tiles which are all designed to show something which relates to the history of the building or Mancunian style.

Not only were the reception staff really friendly and welcoming, once they knew we were staying for my birthday, they kindly upgraded us to a suite. That’s not all..

When we got to our suite, we had prosecco on ice, waiting for us to enjoy!

The design of the rooms and all the furniture & furnishings are stunning.

Not only do the rooms come with a Tuck Box, for you to enjoy some simple snacks for free, your also provided with a Nespresso machine and coffee pods. (My boyfriend was particularly happy about this!)

Like the details mentioned in the foyer, throughout the hotel, you are reminded of the city your in. Including the bee artwork in the bathroom, it looked beautiful and is nice to see that they have really thought about all the smaller details.

Although we didn’t get chance this time, I will definitely be making more of the stunning bath, next time we get to stay here! (Honey comb tiles, is a very nice touch!)

Next door, linked to The Principal, is The Refuge by Volta. As a patron of The Principal, this is where your breakfast is served.

This stunning dining hall by Volta, is linked to the hotel, but you don’t have to be staying at the hotel to eat/drink here. It is well worth a visit too!

If your planning a UK city break, or fancy a night of pampering away from home, then I would definitely recommend The Principal Manchester! With views like this from your room, what more could you want?

5

The hotel is perfectly located for anyone who is new to Manchester. It is only minutes away from St Peters Square & The Gay Village. Located on Oxford Road, it is also only minutes away from The Palace Theatre, the Natural History museum & lots of great bars and restaurants. The architecture of this part of the city is stunning too.

Not only does The Principal have unique & locally made products used throughout the hotel, you can also purchase most of the products separately. One of the things we loved, was the perfumed reed diffuser in the room itself. This fragrance by Azzi, was created specifically created for the Principal group of hotels and smells amazing! So, I grabbed one for myself to take home & I’m so glad I did!

It was a great way to celebrate turning 27 & I have been recommending to everyone, who will listen, that they need to stay at The Principal!
