My ongoing quest to find my favourite place to grab some breakfast/ brunch in Manchester is still going & my latest spot is Albert’s Schloss. This bar, speakeasy, tankovna, restaurant come ski chalet is slowly becoming everyone’s favourite place to grab a drink or some delicious food, after finally visiting myself, I can definitely see why!
Since Jay Rayners review of Albert’s Schloss & the food on offer, I knew it was somewhere I needed to try for myself.
Over on Peter Street, there are changes happening. With independent brewers Brewdog & easily one of the best pizzerias (Rudy’s) as neighbours, this part of town is gathering its own cult following.
We finally got round to visiting on a typically Mancunian morning which was freezing & a bit rainy. As soon as I walked in, I knew I’d picked the perfect place. The modern yet homely interior is a mixture of French ski lodge, Scandinavian cafe & 1920’s Manhattan bar. Somehow, it works perfectly.
The menu is simple & to the point, offering the standards (full English / smashed avocado) and a few more interesting options too. I opted for the super grain bowl & I’m so thankful I did!
It was a mixture of spice, truffle, fresh Edamame & lots of different grains. It genuinely was one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a while! It was the perfect amount & extremely delicious. For once, I didn’t feel jealous of my boyfriend having the (very) none healthy option.
My dish was delicious & I wasn’t sharing!
Not only do their kitchen offer fresh loaves of bread, they also sell freshly made Cruffins, cronuts & pretzels. We was actually seated next to their stunning display of baked goodies & of course we had to try some of those too! (It would be rude not too?!)
We grabbed a raspberry & white chocolate Cruffin, a peanut butter & jelly Cronut & a orange meringue Cruffin. As I’m eating healthier at the minute (getting ready for summer) I only had s little bite of each. But I can tell you every bite was as delicious as the next!
These freshly made pastries are put out everyday & are a hot commodity. If you fancy trying them for yourself, I’d definitely get there early!
Albert’s Schloss is definitely growing in popularity & now I can see why. We booked a table for our little brunch date and although they did have plenty of room, I’d recommend doing the same to make sure you get a table!
Next time your in town, head over to this side of the city & enjoy the experience that is Albert’s Schloss!
