Federal Café & Bar – Review

If your an Instagram junky like me, you will have already seen the stunning pictures of food, cocktails & coffee at Federal cafe & Bar.  On the outskirts of the Northern Quarter in Manchester,  just opposite the Arndale. This little corner café, is constantly full with people wanting a relaxed Australian / New Zealand style brunch.

With fresh ingredients and instagram worthy presentation, this little place has grown quite a following! So, we decided to stop by for the other half’s birthday brunch.  As the café only seats about 20 & it’s pretty popular, we waited about 10 / 15 mins to be seated.  Once you have decide what you want, you order your food at the counter.

The menu is quite small (in a good way). Offering 4  breakfast dishes before 12pm & a further 7 dishes which are available all day.

Although what is on offer is limited, they cater to everyone with dishes like Raisin & Almond Granola sundae / Banana bread & Matcha Green tea lattes for the health conscious. To the usual Bacon / eggs & fried foods for the hungover. As I knew we were planning some early afternoon cocktails, I decided to go with the substantial bacon, eggs, avocado & sourdough toast.

This place does not disappoint! For its price range & location, it offers good food & a laid back vibe. The staff are really friendly & make you feel right at home too. If you have read any of my previous foodie posts, you will probably already know, how much I love industrial & modern interiors. Especially when it comes to restaurants, like many places in the Northern Quarter, Federal has also mastered this vibe perfectly.

So if you’re looking for somewhere cheap & cheerful to enjoy a quick bite to eat, healthy or not, then Federal Café & Bar is the perfect place.
