For a while now, I’ve been seeing loads of Instagram pics / tweets about the food & independent stall at Altringham Market. So, I decided it was about time I checked it out for myself!
For those of you who love great food, which is locally sourced & made fresh then Market House will be heaven for you! Market House, is a unique communal space, surrounded by 8 different food vendors that is attached to the market. (If you follow the blog on Instagram or Twitter, you will already have seen some of the great things we saw & ate!)
Sharing tables with strangers & enjoying good food, is something more likely to be associated with Scandinavia than Manchester. This little market hall captures Hygge perfectly! We were spoilt for choice, so we decided to try a few different things! First, we tried Black Pudding, sourdough toast, smoked chilli ketchup & poached eggs from Little Window. This. was. amazing!
My brother & his wife tried the sausage, eggs, harissa, yoghurt with a chickpea & pepper salad. Which was just as good!
Although this was more than enough for breakfast, we decided to hang around until 11.30, when Honest Crust pizza starts taking orders. I’ve been waiting to try one of their pizzas for quite a while, after seeing / drooling over them on Instagram. (@honestcrustwoodfiredpizza) They also do not disappoint. It is easily one of the best pizzas I have had outside of Italy!
As a perfect side, we also enjoyed some cake & coffees from Market House Coffee. (Including unicorn cake pops!)
After stuffing my face, we went to check out the rest of the market. The whole place is a hipster’s dream. The stalls range from florists to butchers, artwork to fruit & veg and great vintage clothing. Although I already have too many, I couldn’t resist buying another miniature cactus.
I can safely say that Altrincham Market & Market House has become one of my new favourite places and I will definitely be visiting again soon! For anyone who wants something to do on a rainy day, or just enjoys eating food as much as I do, then make sure you check it out!
