Lolo’s is a modern vegan restaurant & bar, hidden away in the little Lancashire village of Ramsbottom, about 20 minutes drive from the centre of Manchester. If you have read a couple of my recent foodie reviews ( The Hungry Duck / Levanter ) then you will already know that, Ramsbottom & its growing food culture has become a bit of an obsession of mine!
In February, I started a plant based diet and the weekends were, by far, the toughest! I really struggled, with what I could eat & what I actually wanted to eat. By the end of the week, I really craved my usual takeaway treat. (Watching my other half eat pizza, didn’t really help! Ha). I then discovered that Lolo’s, offers a collection only takeaway service. To say I was excited, was an understatement & they did not disappoint!
They have managed to create dishes, that taste naughty, whilst still being 100% vegan. The Dining menu changes on a regular basis, but they always offer a variety of soups, sandwiches and cakes. (yes CAKES)
For me, having this type of food available by takeaway, helped me have a bit of ‘normality’, even though I had changed my diet quite dramatically. Eating a plant based diet or being vegan, can be really alienating. Even in modern times, there aren’t really that many options for eating out or takeaways, unless you live in the city centre.
So, for my first vegan takeaway, I had a carrot & coriander fritter with raita as a Starter. Then a creamy pea, spinach and lemon tagliatelle, as a main. These aren’t the greatest pictures (I was way to excited to start eating) but they give you an idea, of how delicious they were. Safe to say, my takeaway cravings were left fully satisfied!
My boyfriend, who is definitely not the type of person to adopt the vegan lifestyle, really enjoyed the food too. (which is a seal of approval in our house!) For those of you with friends or family members who are vegan / vegetarian, this is a great place for your end of week night out or takeaway, without anyone having to make a sacrifice on foods & flavours they enjoy. So make sure you take the trip and visit Lolo’s, or if you live locally, try out the takeaways service as soon as you can!
