If you haven’t already had breakfast/brunch at Trof, honestly, you are missing out! Located on Thomas Street in the Norther Quarter, Manchester. It’s a minutes’ walk from Shudehill tram stop & believe me when I say, the food and coffee, is worth dragging yourself out of bed for!
Many people already know and love Trof, as one of their favourite places for a cocktail on a Saturday night. But I was really surprised, with the amount of people who have never eaten here. My boyfriend and I tried it out recently & they do not disappoint!
Trof is a beautiful bar come eatery that, for me, encompasses all that the Northern Quarter stands for. Its location on Thomas street, sits it opposite a tattoo parlour, sex shop & a centre for contemporary art.
Its this juxtaposition of places, which makes me love this district of Manchester. The interior has my favoured industrial aesthetic. Its paired back, without trying too hard to be that way. Finally, most importantly, they know how to serve good food.
I ordered the Avocado & Feta smash, it was honestly the best brunch that I’ve eaten in a long time! The ingredients list, is straight out of my foodie dreams .. Sourdough bread, poached eggs, avocado, feta, coriander, chilli, …. mmmm.
One thing which pleasantly surprised me, was the coffee. Usually coffee is more of an afterthought for these types of places, but at Trof it is not! (check out the header image) Strong & perfect for anyone nursing a sore head on a Sunday morning!
Trof sits facing the Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art, which is such a beautiful building, so I’d grab yourself a window seat and enjoy (one of my favourite hobbies) some people watching! So do yourself a favour and drag yourself out of bed this weekend and get to Trof for breakfast, you won’t regret it!
